sticky coconut rice cake with turmeric tomatoes

this is one of my favorite recipes of the year! it was so, so good. sticky rice was made into a cake with coconut milk and aromatics, and baked in a small tin. saucy cherry tomatoes are baked at the same time with more aromatics including tumeric. once everything is done, you switch over the oven to broil, and get some extra browning on the top of the rice. the end result is so satisfying. the texture and flavor of the sticky rice is so satisfying, and it soaks up the juices from the tomatoes. i had leftover sticky rice cake, and ate it the next day with a fried egg. i think you could go in so many directions with this unique way of making sticky rice.
