gujarati dal with peanuts + star anise

The flavors in this were different than other dals I’ve had. No onions or garlic, but star anise and clove. Apparently this is a regional staple. I can’t say it was my favorite but it was interesting. I did really like the red skinned peanut and curry leaf topping.
