#53 panfried sea bass with harissa & rose

from Jerusalem

I have a bunch of disclaimers before I say anything about this recipe. The main one is I almost never cook seafood at home, and I'm really not a big cooked fish person. Lox and sushi are heaven, anything that touches heat is kind of meh to me. That said, J said that I should eat more protein, so here I am making a cooked white fish recipe. I would absolutely never think to combine cumin, harissa, onion, cinnamon, rose water and dried currants with fish. I oscillated between thinking the sound of delicious and thinking I picked the wrong recipe. I personally thought the rose petal garnish was beautiful. As for the taste, it was not bad at all. Maybe that's not the most enthusiastic endorsement, but not too bad for someone who dreams of sashimi.
