#232 chaya’s dal pita with grilled tomato salsa

i made this dish with some very old chana dal and yellow split peas, but it still turned out great! this is the perfect meal to have for a few day’s leftovers because it has protein from the legumes, starch from the pasta and it tastes even better the next day. the grilled tomato salad tastes super fresh, even with out of season tomatoes. i would never think to put salsa on a bowl of lentils, but it really works because it contains the same kind of flavors you would find in dal, but adds a cooling, fresh component.
