guava passionfruit pop tarts
inspired by brutus bakeshop
i saw these pop tarts on instagram and had to recreate them. there is actually more to the story than that. i tried to go to brutus bakeshop and walked across brooklyn, through the hasidic jewish areas, to get there, only to find it was actually just a commissary kitchen listed on google maps. but it was right next to marcy projects, where jay z is from, and there were lots of flyers posted about his crypto program. so that was interesting. anyways, this is starting to seem like one of those lengthy recipe intros.
i used claire saffitz’s pop tart dough recipe, but filled with slices of guava paste instead of jam. then i mixed thawed goya frozen passionfruit pulp in a cup of powdered sugar, a tablespoon at a time, until it reached my desired consistancy. i wish i added food coloring.
